On Life and Time!

By Rev. Dr. Bobbie McKay  •  December 11, 2025

Time speaks and we try to listen, not always knowing that God speaks through the medium of sudden and unexpected ideas. Time disappears and we grow impatient. Time goes away and we lose hope.

But on occasion, time “loves us” and we learn effortlessly. An inspired/sleepless night creates a new program in the morning. A painful conversation opens a door to a new friendship.

Time is friend and enemy. But we will always discover God, wrapped in a blanket of time, waiting for us to meet.

Time is God's life plan. We enter the world with no plans. Enter God and time begins! Suddenly, we have programs to develop, a staff to create and work to do that utilizes all our gifts.

Time is “friend and enemy,” lover and interpreter. Time is the answer to prayers and the unanswerable question.

But time is jealous and demanding, possessive and positive, unrelenting and creatively organized around keeping us busy 24/7.

And, once in a while, time releases us from our captivity and provides us with an agenda of freedom which is breathtaking in its simplicity.

Occasionally we hear God speaking and we discover that God is really the controller of our time, if we will listen to God’s spirit and God’s voice.

And when God becomes “real” in our lives, then the equation “shifts” and we rediscover God's voice and spirit alive and well within us. Not a single sound… but a chorus of God voices speaking directly to us.

And then we can become God’s beloved voice in the world, God’s community chorus, changing lives, growing spirit and discovering open doors in the church.

Ask God to enter your life and you will discover that God is already there.

Pray for God’s help and you will be connected to the center of the universe. Pray with God and you will meet God’s heart. Ask for God’s presence in your life and you will be forever changed.

God is real. God will never leave you and that means every day, and every moment of time spent also contains God’s promise to be with us.

- In prayers and thanks and love always.
